Did Someone Ring For An Illustrator??
I decided to spring for an ad in next year’s Directory of Illustration— big step for
me. I already have a corresponding online portfolio. The ad is for their annual print edition, which won’t be published till December. I’m designing the ad myself.
I decided to put myself in the ad. Despite appearances (below), I’ll be a relatively small detail. I doctored a photo in Photoshop, then used the Liquify tool to semi-caricaturize myself. I broadened my high forehead, shrunk my receding hair, pinched my thin face, and further exaggerated my big teeth and moustache. Then I added a little cartoon body and a prop.
I won’t attempt to put the result in context, but I’m clearly a guy with a lotta “pull.”
Are you related to Little Jack Horner? I believe the Horners were known for their big thumbs. 🙂

By the way, I haven’t had any sleep all night, so I forgot to mention something. (Also, I started looking at some of your other work, and this link led to that link, etc.) I’m awarding you with the Versatile Blogger Award for your great blog and the fact that you not only showcase your own talent, but you include tutorials, too! Congrats!

Now, now, you must get your sleep– extreme fatigue can cloud your judgement… : ) Actually, I’m flattered. Coming from a supremely versatile person like yourself, that’s high praise indeed. Hmm– I suppose now I’ll hafta build a Virtual Trophy Case. I wish I hadn’t flunked Digital Shop class. Ah, well– thanks again!! : )
