You Have To Get Their Attention First
I’m a big fan of infographics. They can make numbers and information a lot more compelling.
But what about a single number? Would an illustration be superior to an infographic for communicating, say, a stand-alone rate or percentage?
I picked up a Wall Street Journal the other day and found an item about the abysmally low rates that banks pay on savings accounts. We all know that 0.09% is low, but a drawing communicates that fact in a special way.
Numbers can startle and persuade, but you have to get people’s attention first. A cartoon or illustration does that– in a friendly way.
Do you use numbers and statistics in your marketing campaigns? If so, how do you make the numbers accessible to your readers?

Wow! With all your followers, I’m the first to comment? Well, let me say I think this site is great. You have inspired me to complete more artwork to include on my site, along with more humor. Cartoons can go a long way when it comes to sending a message.

Hmm… I can only assume my many followers get overwhelmed by my brilliance, and that makes them too shy to comment… 😊🔫 Or… they know how long it sometimes takes me to respond to comments, and they get disgusted and leave… 😳🔫 I’m going to exercise great humility and embrace the first explanation… 😊💣💥🚑
Hi, welcome, thanks so much for your kind comment, and for stopping by. Cartoons are very effective messengers, and they can often be much better spokespersons than words. I visited your site, and I can see that we’re very much in agreement that faith and humor are natural allies. Thanks again, nice to meet you!
