As previously mentioned, I’ve been writing blog posts for American Van Lines, and illustrating them as well.![]()
I’m learning a lot about the moving biz!![]()
The above illo was for a post about the pros and cons of moving during the summer (which is the most popular time to move).![]()
The post includes 13 things to think about if you opt for a summer move: booking early, the advantages of certain days of the week (most people move on weekends, so there’s less competition for movers on a weekday), etc.![]()
Since I’m writing and illustrating the post, I can make sure the illustration reflects the text, making the post more memorable.![]()
In this case, one tip was to stay hydrated and how thoughtful it would be to have bottled water on hand to share with the movers, especially on a very hot day.![]()
And if your dog feels like sharing, that’s fine, too!![]()
The above custom illo has two other advantages:![]()
1) it grabs your attention a lot more than the usual stock photo of a couple sitting on the floor surrounded by boxes, and![]()
2) I can include the American Van Lines logo; it fits the context in
a very natural way, and subtly reminds the reader who to call.![]()
