Smart Moves Dept: The Power Of The Right Image
As previously mentioned, I’ve been writing blog posts for American Van Lines, and illustrating them as well.
I’m learning a lot about the moving biz!
The above illo was for a post about the pros and cons of moving during the summer (which is the most popular time to move).
The post includes 13 things to think about if you opt for a summer move: booking early, the advantages of certain days of the week (most people move on weekends, so there’s less competition for movers on a weekday), etc.
Since I’m writing and illustrating the post, I can make sure the illustration reflects the text, making the post more memorable.
In this case, one tip was to stay hydrated and how thoughtful it would be to have bottled water on hand to share with the movers, especially on a very hot day.
And if your dog feels like sharing, that’s fine, too!
The above custom illo has two other advantages:
1) it grabs your attention a lot more than the usual stock photo of a couple sitting on the floor surrounded by boxes, and
2) I can include the American Van Lines logo; it fits the context in
a very natural way, and subtly reminds the reader who to call.
