Why Giving Tuesday Needs To Come BEFORE Thanksgiving
A 280 character story-poem for Giving Tuesday.
I should preface it by saying that I’m not making fun of Giving Tuesday, nor am I implying that people shouldn’t give to a good cause that day. Not at all. It’s a great idea.
I’m simply noting the irony (and having a little fun with the fact) that Giving Tuesday comes right after both Black Friday and Cyber Monday, two of the heaviest consumer spending days of the year. It seems an odd time (psychologically) to ask people to give generously.
In my wallet: a big black hole.
I wrote a check, it bounced and rolled.
Thought I: I’ll just donate online.
But my Pal won’t Pay, and my card’s declined.
I’m not #GivingTuesday, it falls, sad to say,
Right after #BlackFriday and #CyberMonday.
