Hey, Gunslinger– Love Your Hat!!

July 15, 2011

What if some spaghetti western guys had attended the Royal Wedding? Let’s face
it, I’m a thinker of deep thoughts… : )

Below: Charles Bronson and Henry Fonda, who starred in Sergio Leone’s epic film, Once Upon A Time In The West.

(Henry gets to wear the hat Queen Elizabeth wore to the wedding– quite an honor!)

    Mark,

nice work, as per usual. Maybe you can give a quick lesson on how your transformed Henry Fonda’s face in photoshop, to give it that drawn look?

Many thanks, Pat. Transforming the photos is mostly a matter of duplicating the original layer, applying various filters (guesswork), then setting the blending mode of the duplicate layer to Multiply, which blends the effects of the two layers. Reduce the opacity of the duplicate layer to fine-tune the effect. Try duplicating the layer again and experimenting with different blending modes (e.g., Soft Light) and opacities. Hope this helps! : )

Someday they’ll make an epic western where all the gunslingers wear hats like these, and audiences will have good reason to cheer. And hopefully it will win Oscars for Costume Design and Pure Foolishness!!

Thank you, my dear Singing Wonder Of The Sea!!! : )
