Animated GIFs For Valentine’s Day

February 14, 2017

I’m like a kid with a new toy.

That’s probably because I have a new toy.

The new toy is GIFQuickMaker which I bought from the Mac App Store for $2.99.

You can import as many JPEGs as you want, order them, and set the display time for each to a tenth of a second. You can then compile the GIF and run it with just two clicks.

Not quite right? Go back and adjust the timing, then repeat till you like the result.blank vertical space, 16 pixels high

I created the following GIFs using old photos and illustrations from the Internet Archive Book Images collection. It’s part of the Commons Project run by Flickr.

There are millions of images, most of which have no copyright restrictions. Quality varies. I added color to the images below, and cleaned them up a bit.blank vertical space, 32 pixels high

used them much. The classic meme is just an image with a caption laid over it, using
white capital letters with a black outline and the Impact font.

In these examples, I’ve added meme-like text at the end to give each animated GIF a punchline.blank vertical space, 24 pixels high

For example, you could easily adapt the above GIFs for a brand like Coca-Cola by just adding an extra tagline. Here are two examples.blank vertical space, 16 pixels highblank vertical space, 32 pixels high

      My heart is singing!!! 🎶🎶🎤❤️🔊🎶🎶

Actually, my hearts are singing!! 🎶🎶🎤❤️❤️🔊🎶🎶

My own heart (sounding somewhat muffled under a Hogwarts scarf, a glitter vest, 4 sweaters, and an MK-O tee-shirt), and a novelty mechanical heart that I picked up in a thrift shop: it sits on my desk and sings MK-O songs. After each song, you hear rousing pre-recorded applause for 2 minutes, then the heart dispenses a fun-size chocolate bar which I eat to keep my strength up… ❤️➡️🍫😋💪😊

A belated Happy Valentine’s Day to you, dear Marina, and I hope the boatload of flowers and chocolates arrived in time… ⛵️🌷🌸🌹🌺🌻🌼🐝 ⛵️🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍨 🚑👽👽👽

Shhh, shhh, not a word now, we don’t want MtO customs officials to hear about goodies smuggled in from the mortal world… 😊

Fun app – sure makes things easier! I’ll have to look for it for it as a Windows app.
The only animated GIF I ever made was a hoverfly on a yellow flower. No practical application – just had a lot of photos of that bug…

Hi, Margy! I remember your jitterbug very well. In fact, I got nostalgic and scooted over to your blog and took another look at it. Still looks great! I took a chance on that app, but for three bucks, I figured it was worth a shot. Minimal documentation, but very intuitive and easy to use– good match for my slothful disposition! Always good to see you– cheers!
